Ditch Perfectionism
Break the cycle and build confidence. Being perfect is great, but it can lead to procrastination. You know that feeling when you’re stuck in mud and can’t get out? Just because everything and every idea doesn’t fit your perfect world doesn’t mean you should wait for that ideal idea or perfect timing, which never comes.
Ditch perfectionism and start writing. Set a timer for 10 minutes. No edits, no filters—just write. There is no such thing as “bad” drafts. Every page, every paragraph, and every sentence does not have to be perfect. Bad drafts are stepping stones, not failures. The ideas will come, and the story will take shape and start to flow.

Silence the Doubters
Your inner critic can become your worst enemy. Instead of criticizing yourself to be better, it can have the opposite effect. So, kill the inner critic by replacing “this is trash” with “this is a start.” Trust your unique voice. You are not everyone’s cup of tea—and that is gold! People will critique, but you don’t owe them validation.
Most of the time, it’s best to keep quiet and just start doing. People are often amazed by what you’ve accomplished without even realizing it. So, write despite fear. Because momentum builds confidence.
Build a Routine
Write daily, even if it’s just 100 words. Celebrate the tiny wins! Find your favorite like-minded friend and share your tiny successes. No public scrutiny is needed. Before you know it, the “block” will become inspiration.
If you need to, change your scenery. Write in a park, café, or even a messy room. Ask yourself “what if?”: “What if this character fails?” “What if I’m wrong?” Be weird! Make mind maps, prompts, lists—anything and everything to start enjoying yourself again. The writer's juices will flow sooner than you think.
Embrace the Process
Writing is a journey, not a destination. Each draft is a step along the way. Embrace the process and allow yourself to explore different styles and genres. Experimentation can lead to unexpected breakthroughs.
Don’t be afraid to take risks. Write something that scares you. Write something that excites you. The more you push your boundaries, the more you’ll discover about your own voice and style.
Final Push
Stop letting others define your worth. You’re the expert on you. If you hit a block, turn it into fuel. Have fun, be the hero in your story, and slay that dragon—but write about it!
